Inspection app for on-site building inspections, even without internet
Keursnel is made for inspections on site: in the browser, on your laptop, tablet or phone. Your work waits encrypted on your device when there is no internet.
What is Keursnel?
Keursnel (keursnel.nl) is software for building inspections of homes in the Netherlands: you record what you see per building part, and Keursnel turns it into the report, the cost overview and the NHG annex, in your firm's house style. Free for 3 reports a month; after that €25 per inspection, or from €7.50 per inspection with a subscription (excl. VAT).
How does inspecting on site work?
You open Keursnel in the browser and choose the inspection. Then you walk through the home. For each building element, you choose what you see. Each answer comes with a text, a rating, an amount and a timeframe.
The template has 42 chapters, from roof to crawl space, with over 4,800 answers. The home profile determines which chapters and rows belong to the home.
For a new inspection, Keursnel takes the year of construction and the type of home from the BAG, the Dutch register of addresses and buildings. You check those details. So you do not start with an empty screen.
You do not have to work in the order of the report. With the Looproute (“walking route”), you put the chapters in the order in which you walk through a home. The report keeps its own numbers and order.
Does the inspection app work without internet?
Yes. The first time you open it, the browser stores all the app's files on your device. After that, Keursnel also opens without a connection. Handy in the loft, in the cellar or in an area without signal.
Every change and every photo first goes into a queue on your device. Once you are back online, everything goes to the server. A text field saves as soon as you pause for a second and a half.
For open inspections, the app keeps a working copy. So an inspection opens without a connection too, even with a hundred photos attached.
The queue and the working copy are encrypted with AES-GCM. Each user has their own key. The data leaves your device once it has been sent, when you log out, and after 14 days at the latest.
If the server refuses something, it stays on your device until you choose to try again or discard it. A colleague's work is never silently lost.
How do you work with photos on site?
You add photos to an item: with the camera, from your files or by dragging them. Keursnel turns each photo upright and reads the time it was taken from the file.
Taking a whole round of photos first? Use the photo folder. It groups the photos into stops by the time they were taken. For each stop, you attach them to an item.
When there is a connection, photos go to the server three at a time. The top bar shows how far it has got.
In the editor, you point out what matters. Editing does not change the photo itself: Keursnel stores the edit separately. This is what you can do in the editor:
- Crop, arrow, circle and box
- Text and numbered markers from 1 to 99
- A measuring line and brightening
- Covering up: that area is really gone from the report
- Six colours: red, yellow, green, blue, white and black
How do you work through a home faster?
Rest in orde (“mark the rest OK”) sets everything still open to “in orde” (OK) in one go, per instance or per chapter. It takes two steps. First you see what will happen. Keursnel asks whether everything was accessible and whether you looked at everything. Only after you say yes does the app change anything.
Rest in orde skips 85 rows, such as measurements. You always choose those yourself.
With search you find any item and any answer, even by a word from the report text. For example, type “panhaken” (tile hooks) or “wortelgroei” (root growth). One tap on an answer selects it and jumps to the item.
This also saves time on site:
- A list of answers you chose recently
- Copying answers from the previous instance, for example for a second dormer
- Verder waar je was (“carry on where you left off”): back to the last open chapter
- Your own findings with a title, text, rating, amount and timeframe
Can several inspectors work in one inspection?
Yes. Your whole team sees the inspections. Colleagues can work in the same inspection at the same time, one inside and the other outside. Changes appear live. For each field, the latest change applies.
A manager or main admin assigns an inspection to a team member. For each team member, you set which inspections they see and whether they can deliver reports themselves.
You invite a new team member with a link. You forward it yourself, for example through your own email or WhatsApp. The link is valid for seven days and can be used once.
What happens after the inspection?
The report builds up while you inspect. Each answer puts a text, a rating and an amount in the right place.
Before you deliver, Controle (“check”) reviews the inspection. A blocking issue stops the delivery, such as a row without an answer. A warning does not stop anything.
With Opleveren (“deliver”), Keursnel creates a fixed report version, with the cost overview and, for a full inspection, the NHG annex for mortgages with NHG (the Dutch National Mortgage Guarantee). With Deel met de klant (“share with the client”), you create a link to the online report.
You sign up yourself with Start for free, and your firm is ready straight away. In the free plan, your organisation can deliver 3 reports a month. The Pricing page shows what a paid inspection costs.
What does the inspection app not do, and what is still untested?
Keursnel is a web app. There is no app in the App Store or Play Store. You open Keursnel in the browser and log in with your email address and password.
Keursnel is built as an installable web app, with its own icon. Installing it on a home screen has not been tested yet. Keursnel has also not yet been tested on real tablets and phones, or with a real camera. So try it on your own device first, for example with the sample inspection.
Also good to know:
- Only the building inspection: seven other inspection types are marked as coming soon in the app
- The app and the report are in Dutch for now; English, German and French are coming soon
- A photo belongs to an item, not to a single answer
- Keursnel does not email invitations for your team itself: you forward the link
Frequently asked questions
Does the inspection app work on an iPad or Android tablet?
Keursnel works in the browser and is made for laptop, tablet and phone. It has not yet been tested on real tablets and phones. So try it on your own device first, for example with the sample inspection in the app.
Do I need to download an app from the App Store?
No. Keursnel is a web app that you open in the browser. There is no app in the App Store or Play Store. After the first time you open it, Keursnel also starts without a connection.
What happens to my work if the browser closes?
Your work is in a queue on your device. A text field saves as soon as you pause for a second and a half. When you open Keursnel again, the inspection also opens without a connection. As soon as there is a connection, everything goes to the server.
How long does my work stay on the device?
No longer than needed. The data leaves your device once it has been sent, when you log out, and after 14 days at the latest. While it is there, it is encrypted with a key that belongs to your account.
Can two inspectors work in one inspection at the same time?
Yes. Colleagues can work in the same inspection at the same time. Changes appear live, and for each field the latest change applies. A manager or main admin can also assign an inspection to a team member.
Which browser works best?
Use Chrome or Edge if you can. There, printing works with page numbers and a footer. In Safari and Firefox, the report prints without them, and Keursnel has not been tested there yet.
